Una gran novela.

Ayer estuve siete horas sin electricidad en la zona de Caracas donde vivo. Nada mejor que un Kindle en esos casos. Empecé a leer El abismo de Camille. Tengo todavía las emociones que fueron dejando las palabras de Enrique Laso a medida que avanzaba. Esta narrativa no tiene nada que ver con la de sus novelas de acción. Son frases muy bien pensadas, exquisitamente hilvanadas, un libro para leerlo deleitándose en cada pensamiento que surge del médico Edouart Faret, y de las respuestas de Camille Claudel. Sin desmerecer sus otras novelas, me parece que es su obra más lograda, de una alta calidad literaria. La recomiendo. No la he terminado aún, la quiero leer con calma, pues se la merece.

Poor Camille

Enrique Laso is an excellent writer. The story of this very talented French sculptor, Camille Claudel, is told from the point of view of her psychiatrist....his feelings and observations during the time he took care of her. This woman suffered a lot and ultimately was abandoned. Her love affair/association with famous artist August Rodin was, in my opinion, tragic. She reminds me a little bit of poet Sylvia Plath...how the men get acclaim and recognition and the women are just labeled mentally defective. This version is written in Castilian Spanish, which is the international version. Most elegant. Beautifully recounted. The movies made about Claudel are very good as well.
