Love of God

St Bernard talks of four levels of Loving God, with the fourth & highest level related to loving self not at all, save to please God. But best fruit is the insight that the Song of Solomon relates to the love of a soul for God. It is a celestial love story, rather than a corporeal romance between two young lovers. I must confess to having thought the Song of Solomon related to this world. St Bernard casts new light on God's love and how a Christian should return that love.
