Entertaining and fun reading!

If you are an amateur genealogist, have ever imagined or are planning a trip to find your roots in southern Italy or even if you have just thought about finding the place from where your family originated you should read this book! This is the true story of Peter and Gayann Barbella's genealogical journey filled with adventure, cultural exploration, finding new relatives and old roots in a magical, ancient and beautiful land. This book was of particular interest to me as one of the towns the Barbella's explored Sassano. is the town from where my great grandparents immigrated. A fun and entertaining read!

A Journey with a purpose

This adventure is captured in a way that is really easy to relate to, from the difficulties encountered when driving in a foreign place, to the rewards of discovering new people, finding them so engaging despite differences in language and culture. It made me want to make a similar trip, but with trepidation borne from the (now funny) travails with being on your own in unfamiliar places. Glad to read about a real encounter with a happy ending.

A Magical Mystery Tour of Italy

I enjoyed the Barbella's Magical Mystery Tour of Italy. The book kept my attention as Peter and Gayann suffered crowded cities and enjoyed open country villages all the while uncovering genealogical gems and meeting new and old friends. It is a fun read that will keep your attention as you wonder what will be down the next narrow alley or up the next steep hill.
