About the Author
After working at Massachusetts Institute of Technology after the war, Stan then worked under contract to the Atomic Energy Commission, later moving to the Environmental Protection Agency when it located in Montgomery, Alabama in 1972. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Chat, lived in rural, east Alabama. Originally from New England, Stan enjoyed going back every year he was able to in order to visit family and friends. He stayed in touch with one of his war buddies throughout all the years. Stan passed away in November, 2012 in Alabama.

Wonderful little book of first hand experiences of an infantry soldier during WWII 45th Division

My father was in the 45th Division 180th Infantry Regiment "C" Company during WWII. This book was recommended to me by a fellow researcher. I loved the book. The author brings a sense of reality to his first hand experiences being an infantryman during WWII. I gained insight and better understand what my father went through and possibly could have been thinking many times during his overseas service. I highly recommend this book to family members of those who served in the infantry or readers who desire to have better knowledge of these experiences.
