It’s been over a year since Cassidy Miller retired from the United States Marine Corps, but try telling that to her nightmares. She knew that coming back after eight years in a war zone wouldn’t be easy, but she’d underestimated the real difficulties of transitioning back to civilian life. War is hell, but the aftermath is endless.

Looking for a fresh start, she’s left her friends and career in Minneapolis to be a police officer in northern Minnesota. It’s in the tiny town of Embarrass where she learns more about Julia Desjardin. The city prosecutor is cool, professional, and untouchable. But she and Cassidy have history, and Cassidy isn’t going to let her easily forget that.

For all their surface differences, Cassidy and Julia have more in common than they first realized—both are reluctant to hand over their pasts to be judged and studied. But it might take someone just as damaged as the other to help each cope with the skeletons in their respective closets.

This story is my Hero
By Shelly212
It is hard for me not to go all fan girl crazy over this book. I am a big fan of Eliza Lentzski, and have been ever since I stumbled across Date Night when I was deployed last year. Another big hot for me is I can tell Eliza really did her research or used personal experience for this book. I mentioned being deployed, I have been in the military for 12 years so I get a little nervous when j read books where the character is serving or formally served in one of the armed branches. It is hard for me to follow a story when something is way out there regarding the military because Iv been in and worked with other service so I know what is real and what is fake. This story was great with having Cassidy Miller having flash backs and still using military terminology when talking with civilians, and I couldn't help but laugh because I get that, it can be hard to turn that switch off sometimes. Now the chemistry between Cassidy and Julia is so unbelievably wow, I could picture how thick the air would be between them sometimes, and found my self getting a little hot when they would give into each other. Very sexy and classy scenes. The book had a really good length to it, however I enjoyed te story so much I didn't want it to end. I was even telling my self I would be reading this again when I was in the 5th chapter that's how good it starts off. I really recommend this book, you will not be disappointed in Don't Call Me Hero.

An Unlikely Cast Weave a Fantastic Story in Northern Minnesota - You Bechya!
By cathie1245
Not your typical love story is only the beginning when trying to encompass this wonderful story of two women that slowly tear down each other's defences to find love. Cassidy, a former Marine suffering from PTSD likes to eat cheeseburgers, wear jeans, and ride a Harley and Julia, an attorney with impeccable taste in clothing and equally bred as well meet in a bar and somehow can't ignore their initial physical attration, which at times borders on violent it is so hot. Despite the initial desperately hot physical attraction, gradually each sees in each other a certain tenderness, and maybe even a little understanding and safety. The journey they take together is full of emotion and angst which the author has craftily woven into a fantastic story. It's obvious there was a lot personal love written in this story by the author since the setting takes place in a tiny town in northern Minnesota called Embarass. Yes, it does exist and it's nestled amonst thousands of acres of beautiful forest and crystal clear lakes. The fact that I live in the Twin Cities myself made this a joy to read because she got all the Minneosta mannerisms dead-on. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did

Mixed emotions
By Julie M
While I admire the author fore crafting a technically well written novel, I was disappointed with the characters and some of the plot development. I did not find Julia very likeable for most of the book. I also thought certain aspects of the legal system were outright incorrect which can bring down the level of enjoyment. I stuck with it as it had a certain something but that may have been more my own need to complete something I had started.
