About the Author
Kathy Nguyen came to the U. S. under the Refugee Acceptance Program following the Vietnam War. Escaping her homeland by boat, she was one of the survivors. She still wonders whether it was luck or fate that brought her to America. Unlike many refugees, Kathy grabbed every chance to improve herself, turning from a nobody to a somebody in just three and a half years. As a journalist who documents women’s lives around the world, I once asked the Vietnamese woman who started the first hotline for victims of domestic violence in her country, what advice she would give to women survivors of violence. “Tell your story,” she said, “You are not alone. Many will understand.” Katherine Nguyen, a Vietnamese immigrant to the United States, tells her story in RED TEARS. It is a story of unremitting suffering yet the telling is a profound act of courage. I hope that many will, indeed, understand. Will you?

Aptly titled! I shed many in the reading of this book.

Kathy's amazing and heart rending story needed to be told and she tells it well. . . openly, honestly, and in its entirety to this point in time. Kathy is, indeed, a survivor and her determination and dedication to helping others made her just that. Along her life's difficult path, and through oppressive circumstances, Kathy found her inner strength and mission in life which she shares through her published story. She is a remarkable woman and has written a remarkable book. Through her story, which documents years of meeting incredibly difficult challenges in a positive and determined way, she becomes an inspiration to us all. Now that Cathy is in a better place in her life, I hope there will be a sequel.

We thought Kathy's book was excellent. Her story and life should be an inspiration to everyone as she is a survivor. She is a very remarkable lady, we met her last year and she is also a charming person and now we know is also an accomplished author.
