A great set of puzzles with a superb approach

Almost everybody can relate to this scenario: you come into work and your boss hands you a particular situation that needs solving. If you're a human being, you probably have a certain category of jobs you HATE to do, and a certain category of jobs you LOVE to do.
If you're like me -- and the very fact that you're reading a review of this book says you MIGHT BE -- one of the kinds of jobs you love doing involves STRATEGY and PUZZLE-SOLVING. Well, you've found the right book for that.
This is a terrific little puzzle volume that contains the exact kind of puzzles I like: varied situational problems presenting a paragraph-long set of circumstances that need to be addressed, and then sets the parameters of what you must do to solve them. From that point on it's up to you.
Yes, they're puzzles...but what I like best about them is that they seem to be the kind of things you might see if you worked in an office or any other kind of job. Certainly, everybody from conference planners to manufacturers to policemen to private investigators to security guards to...well, you get the idea...ALL of those jobs are represented here, and more.
And it's not just a side aspect of this volume. Rather, the book reveals in its introduction that it is designed for those who work "under great pressure, (and deal) with everyday problems." It presents several strategies for its readers, instructing you on how to differentiate between kinds of problems and how to come up with creative ways to solve them.
In other words, this is NOT just a straight-on volume of puzzles. Each set of pages is a challenge, but at the same time the book offers them first as Warm-Up Problems, then gives its solvers easy, medium and difficult situations one might face at work, all the while giving you a time limitation that really amps up the fun behind it all.
If you can't tell it by now, I really liked this book. While all I've really talked about so far is the book's APPROACH to problem-solving, what must also be said is the PUZZLES THEMSELVES ARE GREAT FUN. While, yes, I found them to be challenges (particularly, of course, the third set), but they were at the same time really enjoyable.
All in all, a well-put-together book that should provide you with hours of intelligent pleasure. It did me.
