Smart, Clever, Funny -- and fantastically CHEESY!

Okay, this is a fun read! I immensely enjoyed how the author offers a "teaching moment" in each chapter, tied into various cheeses. Each chapter follows with "cheese trivia" and I learned a lot about cheese. Sinicki made me laugh out loud several times, and I always love it when that happens while I'm reading. My favorite line in the whole book, which is just so darn smart, was," American cheese was like an ex-boyfriend. I remembered I had loved it, but I couldn't understand why or how." Another beautiful moment in the book is this: "On the train back to Paris at the end of the week, I thought about France, Matoo, the baguette filled with goat cheese, and the me who had enjoyed it all. I felt cultured, intelligent, and grown up. I liked this me a lot. This is who I am, I thought" ... such a perfect way to describe that a-ha realization that we are maturing into who we are. Loved it.

A hidden treasure and now a favorite

I love, love, love MY MOTHER SERVED GOUDA WHEN COMPANY CAME. I didn't want it to end. I've already told my mom to read it, and also my three close friends (we text as a group all day, everyday). I'm not just throwing out a compliment, I really was lost in this 70 page book, novella (?. The stories are clever, witty, and touching all at once. I GOL'd (giggled out loud).
If I could, I would gift this book to every one I know. I'm feeling the same reading pleasure and favoritism I felt while reading Tim Cahill's travel books. As I've read all of his books, MMSGWCC was a pleasant treat.
If a print version existed, I'd seriously give it as gifts to my friends with a basket of cheese. Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, new baby...I can picture my gift baskets to them now. Maybe someday I'll get to.

Told in prose as light and airy as a French Camembert, this book lingers on your tongue like the finest of Bleu Vein cheeses. A great book for the coffee table, I will read this one again and again.
