Michael Clemons (affectionately known as 'Big Mike') is an internationally renowned drummer and producer. A native of Stratford, CT, Mike got his start in music through the support of his mother, Pastor Rosa Clemons, and their church. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, Mike played relentlessly in church, expressing his faith and love for God musically, and believing that more opportunities would eventually come, if he stayed grounded in his faith.
As an entrepreneur, together with his wife Cheryl 'Coko' Clemons, Mike has launched a clothing line as well. In terms of personal health advocacy, Mike has proven through his own hard work that it's possible to gain and maintain a healthy lifestyle, no matter your age or occupation. After several years of being overweight, Mike has lost over 100 pounds and kept it off through a lifestyle change of diet and exercise. His success in becoming physically fit has even led to opportunities to incorporate physical health lessons and demonstrations into his drum and production clinics around the globe.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the "Love Story" embedded within the Journey in ...

I feel as though this book really takes you on a journey through the life of Mr. Clemons. It speaks of times with him and others in ways that you can see as you're reading them. It spoke also of situations that excite you as you read about them. And finally, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the "Love Story" embedded within the Journey in which his life is on. After, you've read it once, it will make you think, and quite possibly READ IT AGAIN.

You don't have to be a musician to enjoy Mike's story!

Although Mike Clemons is a critically-acclaimed drummer, I'd say that drumming only makes up about 1/4 of the story. This book is as much about Mike Clemons the brother, entrepreneur, friend and (eventual) husband and father as it is about Mike the musician.
If you're looking for a self-pitying tale of woe about a former fat kid who socks it to his enemies, this is not the book for you. You won't find Mike bemoaning his fatherless childhood or blaming playground bullies for his (sporadic) knucklehead behavior. Nor will you find a name-dropping braggart filled with juicy stories about life on the road, or constantly patting himself on the back about what a great drummer he is. Rather, Mike tells of the support he received from his family and friends, who encouraged his love of music and understood his (good) hustler's spirit.
As Mike the boy becomes Mike the man, you find yourself hoping that Mike asks out the girl he likes...chin-checks the bully making fun of his weight...makes it to his high school graduation...scores a date with the reticent, golden-voiced singer with the crazy nails...gets his health straightened out before it's too late. This is a great book that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys seeing nice guys finishing first.

POWERFUL

Awesome testimony ! I recommend this book to the world because we are all battling with some sort of issue and some people think that success comes easy and we want to take the straight road BUT God has a different plan to shape and mold you ... people fail to realize when there's a calling on your life you are hit with all sorts of stones and it makes life a bit harder but when you believe in the most high and follow gods will he will fix and place everything you need in your path if you just obey and have strong faith ! Wonderful message and I feel most people can relate because a lot of people suffer from self insecurity's and you won't know how to love until you can love yourself and have god's love in you.God Bless
