I'm very, very, very picky about size difference stories because I often feel like they go into age difference territory in a way that I'm not comfortable with. I saw the pictures of the smaller guy and noticed that he has a beard, so I thought, "OK, this will be fine." But, when I got the book, one of the first images was of the smaller man surrounded by giant teddy bears and wooden toy blocks. That took it into "red flag" territory for me.

Other than that, the art is good and the book is well-bound, well-made, well-produced. The giant is hot. I just wish there weren't minor/adult undertones to the whole thing.

Less engrossing and dramatic than earlier Snowblood tales, these are played for lots of skin and some crude laughs. Compensation for their dumbing down a fairly smart series comes in Kamimura's artwork, more cinematic than ever, full of marvelous viewing angles, perspectival effects, and purely visual storytelling; Koike presumably scripted these wordless aspects, too. If you've been following this series, this volume does not disappoint. It picks up where vol 2 left off which is unusual for Koike and co. And it also shows another side to our heroine which deepens her character. Check it out. A definite purchase versus reading it at the shelf.

Excellent Workbook

If, like me, you are a fan of the "Card Play Technique" book by the same author, you will want to work your way through this book to practise what you learnt. If you haven't read that book yet, you are seriously missing out. No one can become a serious bridge player without reading "Card Play Technique" (see my review on the book).
This is written in Victor Mollo's unique style. The hands are not the exotic hands you see in books written to entertain (like "Bridge in the Menagerie", another favorite). Heart-opening

This reads like a collection of short stories. There is a good balance of amusing and touching stories to make the reading easy and entertaining, yet an honest reader will feel the pinch when the truth (that is so courageously shared) hits a bit close to home at times. The author's gift of vulnerability and humility give the reader an opportunity to reflect and heal in the reading. Threaded through each chapter are the themes of emotional growth, glimpses of a soul's timeless journey, and the transformation available when one engages in life and relationships with an open heart.

Inspiring and entertaining.

What a sweet and wonderful collection of stories about the author's journey on finding her inner strength and trusting her internal guidance to lead her to many doors of great opportunities! I can only imagine what a treasure this will be for her kids to read about their mother's struggle and triumph on doing what is right for her and ultimately her children. Not only is this a good read with entertaining stories, it reminded me to capture and assess the greatness of the small things in life. It's a pure example of authenticity and the power of gratitude.

I just LOVE Butterfly Travels and Jennifer Watson. I've been reading Jenny's blogs for years and now I got to read her wonderful book. Jenny writes with openness and vulnerability about her feelings, good or bad and shares how she learned from all her feelings. Sharing experiences with truth and vulnerability is what makes a good book and this is why I am enjoying it so much. I hope this isn't Jenny's last book though. I'm sure she has more stories to tell.

Worth Having

I have the ©1952 paperback version of this book, published by Dover. It's obvious that the writing of informational books has changed, especially in use of white space (more!) and explanations and instructions. Compared to today's books, this one seems densely packed with information. It's also addressed to people who know a lot about basketry. The information comes at you quickly, and then it's over with, often before you've had a chance to assimilate it.

Still, this is a book worth having on your shelf if you're a serious basket weaver. You could always compare the information and techniques shown in this book to a more modern-day basket book, just to see what has changed, and what has stayed the same.
