You have to read this book!!

This book completely touched every part of my heart! It made me laugh and cry and it made me realize what a difference rescuing a furry friend can do to fill your life with love and joy. The unconditional love that a rescue animal brings to your life is amazing and this book, not only entertaining, provides some really valuable guidance on how to go about the process of rescuing an animal, and making them part of your family... you, and the animal, will be forever happy together.

Upon receiving the book from the Author herself. I laid down that evening and easily dove into this heartwarming and emotional little book. This is a must read. For anyone who is thinking about rescuing a dog, has already rescued a dog or just loves animals period.....this will have you laughing, crying and totally relating to the hardships that are.....being a parent of a fur baby. I was honored to receive this book. Both these women and their tales of devotion and love are both inspirational are beautiful!!

Beautiful story

Just bought this book on Sunday and finished it earlier today; what a beautiful, heartwarming story of two rescues which made me smile and brought me to tears too. I have a rescue cocker spaniel/lab mix, Kobe, that I have had for 12 years and I personally know the joy of welcoming a rescue into my home; I love him heart and soul. So if you love dogs,this wonderful book is a must-read for you!!

Case Closed includes four wonderful short stories

Case Closed includes four wonderful short stories. I had never read anything by Jan Burke before, so I didn't know Frank Harriman. The first story, The Last Place you look is apparently a flashback to his early days as a rookie. You don't need to know anything about the character, though, since it is a classic detective story. It is well-written and funny. The Haunting of Carrick Hollow is a vampire story with a scientific twist and an unforgettable ending. Mea Culpa is another detective story. In this one, the amateur sleuth is a kid and the case has high stakes and a heart-warming resolution. The Man in the Civil Suit was entertaining, if in my opinion it was the weaker of the four.
The problem with short story collections is that they tend to be uneven. This is not the case with Case Closed. All the stories are perfectly written and I simply couldn't put the book down. I will be reading more books by Jan Burke.

What a treat! Four differing stories by one of our top mystery writers – a six year old mystery solved by a rookie’s patience; the tale of vampires in Rhode Island – ‘vampires’ thought to cause TB and a young doctor’s solution – a totally odd guy who makes a pest out of himself in art museums and the Natural History Museum and that solution by a young suitor of his sister – and …well, jump into this and find out!

This is a treat – a treat you will relish and you deserve – right? You know I’m right! You’ve been working hard and putting up with a lot and now deserve something – and this is it! If you don’t love it, send it to me, and I’ll have it for dinner!

Case Closed is a mini-anthology containing a brand-new short story—“The Last Place You Look,” featuring Frank Harriman in his younger days as a rookie cop—with an added bonus of three stories.
Unfortunately, this collection of short stories was not what I initially anticipated - they did not grab and maintain my attention.
The first three stories were somewhat entertaining, however, the third story had an incompleteness to it, and lacked any noteworthy luster.

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to grow up in a North Carolina coastal town in the 1950s, this is probably the best book available. The author freely sprinkles gems of adventure, romance, magic, history, mystery, and inspiration across his pages to create an unusually rewarding literary landscape. His chapter about exploring Washington as a thirteen-year-old boy without adult supervision exemplifies the sense of epic flowing through this book. This is a powerful tale of a boy struggling to change his human-damaged world, written with winning conviction and poetic passion.

Essential reading if you're a fan of Nightbreed

Woah! This is the most important of the books because now you get into Boone's backstory which directly leads into the Director's Cut of Nightbreed. Here is when the story kicks into overdrive. You know where Boone comes from, what he has had to deal with, how he hooked up with Lori, very dramatic storytelling and by far the best issue yet. After reading this issue you can't look at the movie the same way, takes on a totally different dimension.
