I had to put it down a few times for things like sleep and work

I actually met C.C. Campbell and her daughter last year and felt an immediate connection. We chatted, and as I result I started to follow her on her website. As soon as I saw her book was out I rushed to buy and download it to my Kindle, knowing that whatever else it might be, it would certainly hold my interest.
Well, that is putting it mildly. I had to put it down a few times for things like sleep and work, but for the most part, I devoured it. This book is full of the kind of details you hope for, but never get on History Channel specials or even in the better-written documentaries. I loved the meticulous bibliography and plentiful citations. Despite the fact that some of her views are likely to upset the apple cart for a few blind believers and be deemed heretical by the American Taliban, they are really VERY common sense. I've always thought of myself as spiritual, and as missing something, but never found answers in any organized religion. I found some sense, but little spiritual comfort, in various philosophies. Now I find an explanation for so much that was lacking when I did my own seeking. What was wrong? Why didn't these things make sense to me? Why couldn't I just believe, and trust? I wanted to so badly. This book shows me why, what was bothering me, what I was unable to articulate or find on my own. This book is so empowering, I can't wait for more. The author's warmth, commitment and understanding of the struggle for spirituality and meaning are apparent. Wherever you may be in your own journey, I think you'll find that her research and wisdom will resonate.

The research done on this book is astounding. It covers so much history and data on all religions and brings about a better understanding of our purpose here on Earth. For those who would like to judge the book so quickly by its cover or by what those from the pulpit may be saying about this book, don't sell yourself short! This is a pretty down to earth book guaranteed to enlighten everyone who chooses to read it! You will never look at your life the same. Those years of shame, guilt and down right misery can now be banished with the new knowledge you gain from reading this book. The writer shows so much love and compassion for everyone as she shares her journey filled with her own heartaches and pains in search of answers for all! For women, this is probably the best life lessons you will ever have the opportunity to learn. Read it for yourself, your daughters and all women out in the world! If women are ever to truly feel worthy in our society know that this knowledge can be the key to setting all women free!
