excellent updating of events in the post-wojo Roman Catholic Church from the Mexican Perspective, including corrupt clerics

Rius serves as the greatest chronicler of world events and all aspects of Mexican society, from presidents and philosophers to cuisine, delivering the great truths and important events in the most palatable and enjoyable manner, through his collage-driven graphic art.

And so when he examines the events in these recent decades in the Roman Catholic Church, in particular the perverse and openly corrupt hierarchy of Mexico, he presents it all in his graphic and straightforward style, readily comprehensible and clear.

Rius adds a great bibliography as reserach, documentation, evidence and suggestions for further readings, all of which backs up what he has so carefully and delightfully presented, integrating primary docuyments and news articles into the text.

In particular he here lists such works as that which blew the lid off the secrets of the Legionnaires and Marcial Maciel. He also reaches out to Los Angeles in the USA for concealing priests sought in Mexico for their crimes, and to Nicaragua, to question correctly Cardinal Obando.

An important book for all of us to read. THe basic structure is a conversation with Jesus, which gives great breadth and room to consider the greatest over riding questions, such as the eradication by wojtyla of the great ground swelling of Liberation Theology, and thereby the turning of our church over to the perverse and comfortable and idly wealthy, examining closely the damaged lives of Mexican bishops and clerics, including the harmful Norberto and Onesimo.

Great book for everyone to read, of particular interest to the practicing Catholic.

Recieved it one day before my birthday (yay!). This volumen opens a new storyline, 6 months after the Al-Quds operation and now in a three-way war between the Saudis, Islamic State and the Syrian Gov. Better drawing (you can see every piece of equipment, much of them HSP branded) and faster storyline (lotsa pew pews with a good background of what the hell is going on). GO for it!

Awesome and complex!

Without doubt, this book has one of the most complex plots I have ever seen in a fiction novel. In the beginning, I struggled a bit to figure out where the author was going with this story, but soon found myself enthralled and unable to put this book down. When I wasn't actively reading it, I was thinking about it.

The concept of this story is simple, a child remembering a life that he never lived in his current form, but the plot takes multiple unexpected twists and leaves the reader hungering for answers by the time they reach the halfway mark.

This author has a way with character creation and made me feel as if these characters were people I knew and cared for. The outsider-like feel of the main character when he is reborn as a different child made me long to help him figure things out and kept me involved in the story.

I think this may be my favourite book of the year. For anyone who likes novels that keep you guessing, make you feel strongly about the ending and like solving mysteries, this is a book you should definitely read.

Excellent and worth all five stars.

Murder Mystery with lots of Twists

I received a copy of The Child’s Past Life from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a good book. I was surprised by the twists as they came along. I like to read books that keep me guessing. I liked that it was set in Shanghai because it made the book more exciting than reading about a city I am familiar with. It is a murder mystery that has more questions than answers. I was really intrigued by the reincarnation aspect as well as the look at Chinese idealism.

expressive and engrossing

REVIEW: THE CHILD'S PAST LIFE is an intriguing multi-level mystery set in China. For Western readers, we need a minor extra stretch because of unfamiliarity with the background and setting, but the story is well worth it. Protagonist Shen Min, Chinese Communist Party loyalist and teacher at a secondary level (high school) boarding school, is a sneaky fellow who hides his secrets even from himself. In short order in June of 1995, he is accused of the poison murder of a student; arrested; released; kills, then is killed---and finally, even though he doesn't believe, reincarnates-determined to identify his killer.

Buckle up and hang on!

Dr. Geoffrey Whelan worked in Japan during the tsunami. He comes back to Sonoma, CA to help his family. Geoffrey receives a mysterious warning from a young woman at a clinic where he is a doctor one day. He has no idea what it means. The young woman warns him and a nurse, Maylin, that they are in danger and need to leave. Why? All of the sudden, 2 fake FBI agents show up and try to attack them! From there, they are on the run. The heart-stopping danger doesn't stop there but continues through the streets of San Francisco and Sonoma, Calif. Normally Maylin steers clears of Geoffrey but now they are running for their lives as they try to figure out how a young teenager is connected to the craziness they are experiencing.

I love Camy's suspenseful writing. You never know what's going to happen and she uses great secondary characters!

Romantic Suspense!

Unshakable Pursuit by Camy Tang is a romantic suspense with lots of twists and turns. A mysterious young woman warns Dr. Geoffrey Whelan and Nurse, Maylin Kinley that they are in danger. Then two Asian men, who are fake FBI agents attack them at the children’s clinic where they work. Geoffrey and Maylin are determined to figure out who is after them and why. When they discover the threat is connected to a young teenager whose life they saved, they must race to stop the person who wants them dead—before everyone they care about is caught in the crossfire. Do they find out they care for each other? How does a sticky note pad save someone’s life and in the end have a special message? The action is non-stop and keeps you wanting more. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the story changes!

Great Story!

Unshakeable Pursuit by Camy Tang is a very enjoyable romantic suspense. Maylin, a nurse, and Geoffrey, a doctor, are co-workers in a free clinic. But before long, they find themselves thrown together and trying to survive. This novella has some great action and the storyline is very interesting. I really enjoyed learning why these two were running for their lives! Maylin and Geoffrey were also both struggling with deep questions about God and their relationship with Him. They both had a lot of growing to do spiritually in this story and the issues that they each had were deep and hard to overcome. There is a lot of spiritual truth packed into this great novella. And the romantic tension and attraction between the two is fabulous! Loved it!

Creepy, Exciting, Informative, and Strange!!

"Here goes another day in hell." That was the first words out of Rick's mouth as he prepared to enter the post office. I feel that way on occassions, but not all of the time. I was surprised at how well Reggie mixed in the carriers emotions and problems at work. Of course, their problems were generated by management--what else! This novel, outside of the murders, really hit home. It exposed and showed the clown like atmosphere that sometimes surrounds most post offices. The violent car accident in the beginning really shocked me. The cop shoot outs were great too. Along with the murders, the wrapping up of people in plastic to preserve them was WACKED! This novel was stranger than fiction. Hey, this was FICTION.

Bold, and Entertaining!!

This novel had some slow parts, just like many of the other novels I've read, but it always kept me wondering who the Killer Postman was. As I read through the novel I tried to pick up some clues, but the author kept mixing in a clue here and a clue there. I think he did a good job by making the reader continue to guess who the killer was. I thought I figured it out about halfway through the novel, but then Ruby came into the picture. Ruby was a transvestite who had some serious issues (murderous issues). There were two killers roaming the streets. This was a good murder mystery mixed in with daily postal workers activities. I enjoyed it.

12 Year Letter Carrier

If you don't like Sex, a good laugh, or Violence...then this book is not for you. I found it very interesting to see how detailed the author explained what us letter carriers do during an 8 hour day. At first I was a little irritable about reading what I did on a daily basis, but then I started to laugh. It was funny to see it written on paper...about how hard we work, what problems we go through and how management treats us. Okay...it wasn't put together by Stephen King, or Koontz, or Dennis Lehane, but I enjoyed it. I've got to hand it to this author...he was the first Letter Carrier (modified) to put what we did in the office, what we did on the streets, and how customers acted towards us on paper. I haven't read anything else that comes close to telling the world (and us Letter Carriers) about what we do. At first I thought it was going to be a wild, bloody murder spree, but it wasn't. It mixed in other day to day activities about Letter Carriers, Clerks, management...and of course the murders. The most unusual character in the whole story was Ruby...a transvestite!! This was LOL funny, but strange. This novel had its slow parts, but I got through it. Certain parts of this novel kept me reading for more. I really wanted to find out why the Letter Carrier wanted to kill his customers. This may not be a popular novel just yet, but in due time it will!!! I hope this author puts out another novel so I can see if he is for real!!

Another good little mystery in the series. I like the way this author writes Holmes and Watson, and so far haven't been disappointed in this series. Looking forward to more.

This is another locked room mystery that kept me interested all the way through. I love to see how Sherlock solves these cases.

I've written before that Steven Ehrman is one of my very favorite SH authors, and he does not disappoint with this work. If you're looking for a reincarnated ACD, you're in the right place. Setting, dialogue, plotting, historically accurate references, down to Watson wondering what's for dinner; it's all here. The ending was (for me anyway) a surprising and satisfying twist I absolutly did not see coming.

An amazing and important story.

Eva Libitzky's story, Out on a Ledge, strongly parallels my mother's story. Like my mother, Eva grew up in a Chasidic family in the Lodz region of Poland. Both imprisoned in a ghetto and Auschwitz during the war, they had to survive by their wits. After the war both made their way to a displaced persons' camp in the American zone, married and then came to America. Both with a young son. My parents even settled in same Brooklyn neighborhood as Eva. While she and her family moved to Connecticut, my family stayed in Brooklyn.

Eva's story is very moving. She is another important witness to the horrors of the Holocaust. How the suvivors lived through what they endured and then rebuilt their lives in a totally new land is nothing short of amazing. A true example of the triumph of the human spirit. I recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about and remembering the Holocaust.

Compelling Story of a survivor

This story will grab you from start to finish. How it all began, from a happy life to unbelievable horror. You keep wondering how in the world these amazing people survived to live out their lives with such strength and percerverance. They went on to live happily have children and grandchildren. Amazing. The part where they went back to Poland after Martin had died had to really be healing finally for Eva. Oh and what amazes me is the longevity of both Eva and Martin after the severe malnutrition they endured, he lived to 96. Well written and highly recommended!!

This was a riveting story, eloquently told by Eva Libitzky and Fred Rosenbaum. The 2nd edition adds important details about Eva’s emotional return to Poland in 2013 with 16 of her closest relatives spanning three generations. Eva is an inspiration, and I'm thrilled that her story is now in print for generations to read and learn from for years to come.

Aircraft have always been part of his life and changed his life, most notably when a light aircraft crash killed his family, leaving him as the sole survivor. The memoir shares the details of his life as it was affected by aviation, and by the fact that he has an introverted personality type. Although introversion can be a strength as well as a weakness, in both cases it affects the way introverts approach the world and their relationships with others. The intersections of introversion and aviation are constant threads of thought in the narrative. All of us face our own difficulties and traumas as we move through life. The story is sad, but hopefully inspiring, showing how one person survived to live a fulfilled life despite difficult situations.

About the Author
Larry Klos is a retired engineering manager who decided to share stories of his life, experiences, and imaginings with a broader public. Although he has been writing both professionally and as an avocation for many years his current works are the first which are published and readily available. Larry grew up on a farm in rural Montana and his wife Elaine grew up in a row home in Philadelphia. Despite disparate backgrounds they have a common value system and, with two children, six grandchildren and a series of dogs, have lived in Texas for more than 40 years. Works produced to date include both fiction and nonfiction books.

Not just for Pilots or aviation enthusiasts

An excellent book for both pilots and non pilots. An easy read with a powerful life lesson which is hinted at in the preface. The discussion about being an introvert gives a unique insight into a part of our lives that we all have to varying degrees.
